The Queens-based woman born Onika Maraj won acclaim for being a one-lady theater company, capable of shifting between hard street raps, cartoonishly raunchy boasts and club-pop confections that seek to give Rihanna a run for her Billboard money.
Of course, not everyone thinks these personalities (or chart aspirations) fit well together on the same album (plenty of lyrical purists don't care for the pop stuff), so it might be in your best interests to try before you buy.
