In case you missed the fact that Brooklyn is the new Manhattan, urban go-to guide UnScene has proof: The 718 has swallowed up the 212 - literally. UnScene has been cataloguing urban coolness for a while now, and the new Brooklyn edition of its guidebook-pamphlet-whathaveyou (they don't publish a separate one for Manhattan) lists the LES, Nolita and Chelsea as Brooklyn neighborhoods, right alongside Williamsburg and Bushwick.
