In a development that must make Tom Wolfe happy, the state Supreme Court ruled that two Upper East Side tenement buildings that briefly lost their landmark status (then had it restored) will not be torn down to make way for big glassy office towers. The owner of the properties, part of a 15-building complex on York Avenue between 65th and 65th Streets, is considering an appeal. [Sun; further reading]
