In The Window: Silver Lining's Nonpartisan Showing

Marc Jacobs may have no problem making his personal political leanings known, but other shops around town are taking advantage of the public's interest in the presidential race in a nonpartisan manner. Today, eyewear boutique Silver Lining Opticians at 100 Thompson Street unveiled their own political window display, with the theme "Vote Glasses 2008." In addition to the red, white and blue signage and frames in the window, the store's giving out helium balloons emblazoned with their message. And though it might be seen as a play for Republican dollars (Palin fans love the VP candidate's rimless specs), co-owner Jordan Silver stresses that their campaign is politically neutral.
