Blue Ribbon is the New Black at Mulberry

What contest did Mulberry win to warrant the neon ribbon display in their Bleecker Street window? Nothing exactly, but the display is sufficient enough to cause passersby to curiously peek inside.

Taking a page from the Marc Jacobs playbook of visual merchandising, Mulberry has covered its store walls with award ribbons, just as MJ covered his with gift bows over Christmas and plastic flowers now.

It's not like either of these stores has an unsightly interior, but they'll do anything to sell some leather bags in this economy. Does entering what is essentially a retail art installation make people buy more? We can't tell, but overstimulation seems to be the new black.
