Gramercy Park's Vintage Thrift Shop

Vintage Thrift Shop may have a generic name, be located right around the corner from some serious competition on Thrift Corridor (23rd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Gramercy), and possess a store front that wouldn't ordinarily compel us to stop.  But we discovered a wonderland o' vintage this week when we swung by to check it out.

The selection is almost bizarrely spot-on as far as stock is concerned (vintage Louis Vuitton speedy bags? check) and, best of all, the prices are within the vein of true thrift. We happened upon a red Christian Dior blouse for $15 (after applying the 50% off all green ticket items promotion), a hippie-luxe kaftan that Rachel Zoe would surely blog about for $25, and a truly magnificent YSL LBD for $125.

There seemed to be a very minimal markup applied to designer goods as opposed to their brand-less counterparts and often items in perfect condition were priced the same as those in, er, not so perfect condition so we were admittedly confused about the pricing system.  Most importantly, however, there's a dedication to carrying great styles so we kinda understand just why the store is rated #1 vintage in NYC by Zagat.

Oh- and- all profits go to the United Jewish Council, so any guilt you may experience shelling out that $40 for a Michael Kors sun dress should be quickly assuaged.

Vintage Thrift Shop is located at 286 Third Avenue, between 22nd and 23rd Streets.
