Maybe it is true that what everyone really wants to do is direct. For Tom Ford, a 10-year stint at Gucci, launching his own label (including perfume) apparently wasn't enough, since the designer signed with CAA in 2004 with the aim at Hollywood. Now it's been confirmed that he's even managed to round up an A-list cast including Colin Firth (going gay!) and Julianne Moore.
While actors are probably used to dealing with erratic personalities, it's worth noting that Ford is pretty notorious for his mood swings and demands. The Times in the UK recently put together a pretty incredible portrait of the designer written by Giles Hattersley, who recounts a party where Ford pulled him aside and said: "There are hookers by the pool and coke in the bathrooms—enjoy!" (Spoiler alert: neither claim turned out to be true.) Other prize quotables include Ford's infamous aims when he took over Gucci: "I’m thinking satin, I’m thinking slashed to the crotch, I’m thinking ... who the f*** ordered these danish pastries? You know I don’t do carbs on non-leap years. Fire them! Fire them all!”
