Garden State on TV, Take Two: “Jersey Couture”

The first network to jump on the Jersey Shore bonanza bandwagon is Oxygen, which is planning to premiere a new series called Jersey Couture, currently in development for 2010.

When we see headlines involving New Jersey and couture in the same breath, we thank the pop culture gods for giving up such precious material.  After all, focusing on the style element of the "guidette" culture seems a natural next step to MTV's "Jersey Shore," from classy getups with necklines cut to the belly button to a bedazzled separates.  The epicenter for such sartorial endeavors will be Diane & Company, a dress shop in Freehold, NJ, where "the password is glamour."  The website (which is actually not password-protected) gives us a taste of what's to come, with collections from Paris by Tony Bowls and the Sparkle Prom Collection, to name just a couple.

While Oxygen reps have said only that the series is "in development," we're anticipating a band of characters and style worth tuning in for.
