Subject: Charged Absurd Late Fee at Cherin Sushi

——

I came with a party of ten. We made a reservation for 8pm. I arrived at 8 and was rudely greeted. Apparently I was the first to arrive and they were unhappy about that. Six out of the ten of us arrived by 8:10, and having worked in the restaurant industry myself and knowing how annoying it is to hold a table for long I asked if we could sit and order while the other 4 made there way around the corner to us....

After an unnecessary argument, we were seated. We were all there by 8:15pm. Considering how much we were hassled I was surprised at how long it took for our server to take our order -- not to mention the place wasn't busy, there were empty tables. The real kicker was that we were chardged $20 a head for being less than 15 minutes late!

Our check was not even itemized. Being a cheap sushi place, I don't think a single person ordered enough to be charged $20. I know what I ordered cost $10.50. When we brought up how inappropriate that was and how we wanted to see the manager, the manager would not come to the table....I have never had this experience at any other restaurant. For more stories from Eater, go to eater.com.
