Lineups for Free Summer Concerts in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host a series of free concerts at Coney Island and Wingate Field

Starting July 12 the Seaside Summer Concert Series in Coney Island will feature free concerts every Thursday through Aug. 16.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host the concerts at West 21st Street and Surf Avenue, next to MCU Park, where the Brooklyn Cyclones play.
 
Acts for the 2012 lineup include Gloria Gaynor, the Village People, Squeeze, Oscar DeLeon, Joan Jett, Gladys Knight and the Commodores, among others.

July 12 - Disco Night/Last Dance: A Tribute to Donna Summer
Gloria Gaynor, The Village People, The Trammps and Rose Royce
 
July 20 - Squeeze, The Romantics
 
July 26 - Annual Latino Music by the Sea
Oscar DeLeon, Luis Enrique, N'Klabe
 
Aug. 2 - The Best of Classic Rock Night
Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styxx, Lou Gramm: The Voice of Foreigner
 
Aug. 9 - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
 
Aug. 16 - Gladys Knight, The Commodores
 
Markowitz will also host the Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series, with free concerts every Monday from July 16 to Aug. 20 at Wingate Field, Brooklyn Avenue between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street.
 
Acts inlcude Bootsy Collins, Public Enemy, Salt N Pepa and Ledisi.
