The Food Network announced this week it would offer a handful of behind-the-scenes tours of its Chelsea Market studios and the tickets sold out like, well, hot cakes.
The studio -- which serves as home base to shows such as "Iron Chef America," Rachel Ray's "30 Minute Meals" and "Guy’s Big Bite" -- as well as its test kitchens, will be up and running during the tours, a Food Network spokeswoman told the NewYorkology travel blog.
There's no guarantee, but the network hopes the cooking show fans on the tours will get to see at least one of the on-air celebrity chefs.
Although the current batch of tours sold out within 48 hours, it turns out the December and January offers are just a test batch. The Food Network plans to ask the tour-takers lots of questions afterward to help decide how to create regular studio tours starting later in 2009, the spokeswoman told NewYorkology.
The Food Network's studio tour hotline -- (646) 336-3736 -- is currently open for callers to leave their e-mail if they'd like to be notified of new studio tours.
Currently this is the only way the public can get into Food Network; none of its shows offer studio tickets at this time.
