MacDougal Street Fixer-Upper

When last we left derelict Soho mystery building 43 MacDougal Street, vandals were hurling garbage cans through its windows, but now the vacant building is finally getting some attention from the city, Downtown Express reports. The Department of Housing, Preservation and Development is making repairs to the landmark district structure, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission will begin fining the owner $5,000 per month for failure to reply to repeated violations. In a statement, the LPC said, "If the owner continues to be nonresponsive, litigation may be commenced to compel repairs to be made." Dem's fightin' words!
