A look from Chris Benz's '50s and '60s-inspired fall collection.
Designer Chris Benz cited icons like Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe as inspiration for his Fall 2012 collection, held at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.
"I got inspired by the idea of someone watching their mom getting ready for a holiday party," the designer told us -- circa the 1950s and early 1960s.
Benz told us, "I spent a lot of time looking at old Christmas specials."
Benz, who has a knack for mixing textures and color, did not let his fans down this season. Benz mixed tulle, lame, sequins and knits this season.
He also brought back the petticoat this season. This was a standout dress in the collection.
Benz's celebrity fan base is varied -- everyone from Debbie Harry, to Johnny Weir stopped by to check out the presentation.
The soundtrack playing in the background included songs from West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie and The Artist.
All of the looks in the collection were paired with round toe heels in patent leather -- there were versions in red, green, and white.
Other accessories in the collection included topper hats and patent leather debutante gloves.
The retro wigs also added a fun element to the collection. Benz told us, "I am ready to see girls dress up again." So are we.
