CFDA Is In the House

The CFDA first partnered with Assouline back in 2007 with American Fashion, a glossy coffee table book to which its since added versions on accessories and menswear. Now, they're getting even more personal, with looks inside designers' houses.

Images from some115 CFDA members' homes and retreats will be featured in American Fashion Designers at Home, due out in Septemeber. While lots of the photos have been published previously, as those who are as addicted to shelter mags as to Vogue, will recall (and indeed, Elle Decor ed-in-chief Margaret Russell wrote the forward), we're still beyond thrilled to have a glossy compilation with which to top our coffee table.

Household names and indie darlings will mingle side by side on the glossy pages, touting looks running the gamut from soothingly zen, like Donna Karan's Parrot Cay guest house, to crisp and mod, like Angel Sanchez's Mondrian-inspired living room.

Glimpses into designers' vacation homes iinclude CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg’s Cloudwalk estate in Litchfield County, Ralph Lauren’s Double RL ranch in Telluride, Mark Badgley and James Mischka's Kentucky horse farm, and Virgins, Saints & Angels creator Cheryl Finnegan’s San Miguel de Allende retreat.

For city living there's  Elie Tahari’s SoHo triplex, Twinkle by Wenlan designer Wenlan Chia’s financial district loft, Milly’s Michelle Smith’s Madison Avenue apartment, and Ralph Rucci's art-filled, UES abode. And, of course, no designer decor compilation would be complete with J.Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons' Park Slope brownstone.

$65, available for pre-order in June from Assouline.
