Braden Keil reports that next month, the Museum of Natural History will open a 12,000-square-foot skating rink on its Arthur Ross Terrace, adjacent to Theodore Roosevelt Park. It can't be called an ice-skating rink because it's not quite ice; the artificial surface is being engineered so that it doesn't melt or need maintenance (R.I.P. zamboni). Despite the potential for late-night hours, Community Board 7 seems OK with the seasonal rink, which will be larger than the one at Rockefeller Center.
