CBGB Founder Gets Biopic Treatment

The defunct, Lower East Side ground zero and accidental incubator of New York City punk rock is set to be the backdrop to yet another rock-tinged biopic.

This one, titled "CBGB," will follow Hilly Kristal, founder of the legendary home base for bands like The Ramones, Patti Smith, and Talking Heads.

Kristal passed away of lung cancer in 2007, but it's hard to forget the legacy of a man who moved to New York to start a Country BlueGrass Blues club (CBGB) and became a lynchpin of modern punk.

It's the stuff of modern rock myth, and if anyone's to get the celluloid treatment, it should be Kristal. To keep it true to form, Kristal's daughter, Lisa Kristal Burgman, will co-produce.
