Not too long ago, Racked had a recurring feature called Mo' Banks, where we profiled the rampant spread of bank branches throughout the city. Well folks, times have certainly changed. Crain's: "Brokers have good reason to expect Chase will shutter many of WaMu’s city branches. J.P. Morgan shuttered nearly 50 of Bank of New York’s 339 retail locations after it purchased that bank in 2006 because the stores operated too close to existing Chase branches. There are 144 WaMu branches and 275 Chase locations in the city, not including all of the Chase ATMs in Duane Reade drugstores." This is just great news for anyone looking to rent a brightly-lit vestibule. Ah, is there anyone out there looking to rent a brightly-lit vestibule?
