The tour aims to teach Americans that maintaining an active and balanced lifestyle can be affordable at any income level.

Eight months ago, halfway across the country, three women traveling in a silver Airstream trailer began spreading the message that people can maintain personal wellness through community activities and spa-like experiences.

“One of the challenges with spa is that it’s not accessible. So the real premise of the tour was to let people know about the accessibility and opportunities in the communities where they can live and be healthy,” said Kristi Konieczny, 38, who created the tour after eight years of spa industry experience.

The Buzz Bus has traveled 17,897.3 miles -- stopping in New Mexico, the Gulf Coast states, Midwest spots like Kentucky and Ohio and Western states, including California and Arizona.

For the eighth and final leg of the journey, the Buzz Bus is in the Northeast. It will stop in New York City Nov. 26-30.

Konieczny’s message to Americans: “I just think with the world as crazy as it’s getting ... people need to find ways to find balance and really connect with themselves and find body mind and spirit.”

In New York, the women plan to visit Organic Avenue and the vegetarian food truck Taim, among other stops.

To teach children about spa and wellness, the bus will stop at P.S. 116 Mary Lindley Murray School on Oct. 28.

Konieczny says she's personally learned a lot along the tour.

“Wellness - the word has all these connotations but we’re learning that wellness is a vast, vast thing and there are so many opportunities,” she said, referring to acupuncturists and herbalists.
