Gowanus Harvest Festival
The Second Annual Gowanus Harvest Festival is back with more farm fresh food, live music, local vendors, pumpkin carving contests, pony rides, and brews. This year's proceeds will go to Just Food.
Saturday, October 11. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tickets: $12, Children under 5 are free. The Yard, 388-400 Carroll Street.

Big Brooklyn Pig Roast and Harvest Hoedown
The Big Brooklyn Pig Roast and Harvest Hoedown is a prelude to the Gowanus Harvest Festival. Enjoy good food and local music. All proceeds go to the New Farmer Development Project. Tickets are going fast but there will be $10 tickets available to hear the bands and drink the Sixpoint ales.
Tonight. 6-10 p.m. Tickets: $40, children under 10 are free. Cash bar, $1 Sixpoints from 6-7 p.m. The Yard, 388-400 Carroll Street.

Gaetane Michaux's Bushwick Yourself!
Gaetane Michaux, a Brooklyn artist, is launching her show, Bushwick Yourself! Gaetane's work uses custom-made puzzles as a platform to mix and collage everything from movie posters to street art to portraiture.
Opening Reception Tonight, 6-10 p.m. Show runs until October 31. Factory Fresh, 1053 Flushing Avenue.

Red Hook Film Festival 2008
The Red Hook International Film And Video Festival is in its second year with more film, video, and animations. This year's festival showcases 29 short films from Brooklyn and around the world. Beer and wine will be available, as well as some free key lime pies from Steve's Authentic and free popcorn.
Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12. 1-6 p.m. Free. Screenings are at Brooklyn Waterfront Artist's Coalition, 499 Van Brunt Street.

Seining for Kids
Join experts from the Coastal Marine Resource Center as they use a 30-foot seining net to catch fish and other creatures that live in the waters under the Manhattan Bridge. Families and kids can take a good look at the catch before they are released back to their homes.
