Because of the existing pipeline of projects, the city's construction workers should have plenty do through 2009; according to a forecast by the New York Building Congress, however, 2010 is another story. Two years from now, the construction workforce is expected to drop to 100,250, the lowest level since 1997. “We’ve been through tough times before,” said Seth Pinsky, president of the city's Economic Development Corporation, somewhat unconvincingly, according to the Observer.
