The Municipal Art Society has invited architects and designers across the globe, and anyone who loves Coney Island, to "Imagine Coney." That's the name of their initiative to go beyond (or go with) the city's plan, and generate a new vision for the nine acres of the new Coney dedicated to entertainment. Yesterday, an international consortium met up at Borough Hall for a briefing, and they'll be back November 13th and 14th for a charrette, or design-process meeting, the results of which will be published on November 17th. So far, no hints leaking from the groups involved about how they see the space, and no mention of whether any Astroland rides will be included.
