Closing Bell: Let the Flea Shine In!

Well, here we are: Opening Day of the 2009 season of Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene kicks off tomorrow. We've had a great time being indoors in Dumbo this winter and are looking forward to continuing our residency at 76 and 81 Front Street on Sundays this spring but, man, are we psyched to get outdoors again, especially if the weather is as good as it's expected to be. (The photo above should remind you of how cold it was on opening day last ye—brrrrrr!) To celebrate Opening Day, the yard will be decorated by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with cherry blossoms to celebrate its annual Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival and we'll have both a jug band and a marching band on hand for entertainment. Racked will be curating a special area and as always we'll have a scavenger hunt for the early birds. If you've read either New York Magazine or Time Out NY this week, you'll be up to date on some of the new vendors, food and otherwise, that will be on hand tomorrow. We'll be around most of the day too, so come introduce yourself. The Brooklyn Flea is held on Saturdays at the Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Fort Greene (176 Lafayette Avenue between Clermont and Vanderbilt Avenues; take the C train to Clinton-Washington or the G train to Clinton Avenue) and on Sundays in Dumbo at 76 and 81 Front Street.
