Turns out the embossed ring on BB's new Brooklyn Local 1, a Belgian Trappist monk ale-inspired brew, is trademarked. That's right, you can't make a ringed bottle over here without paying the monks of Westmalle a handsome sum, reports the NY Times. BB, not interested in a suit, abandoned the double-ringed bottles and spent $60,000 on a redesign. The beer recipe, however, did not have to change.
