Brooklyn: We do too deserve our own “most influential” list

Brownstoner names 50 VIPs shaping Brooklyn's landscape

Who's-on-top lists are like a weekly occurrence now - sometimes they're It lists, sometimes Power lists, sometimes they have catchy names like "25 under 25" - so it was just a matter of time before self-congratulatory Brooklyn got in on the action. Brownstoner begins its five-week countdown, naming the "top 50 most influential people in shaping Brooklyn neighborhoods - by building new structures, preserving older ones, influencing property values and quality of life, speaking for thousands, or changing the course of developments." If 41-50 are any indication (e.g. Frank Gehry, picked to design the controversial Atlantic Yards) this highbrow list has legs. And it's way less twee than the now-infamous Park Slope 100, which features people like "Angela the crossing guard," "Noah Baumbach" and - surprise! - Brooklyn bloggers.
