Accessories designer Monica Botkier, famous for her zipper-embellished handbags, is opening the first store for her eponymous brand today in Nolita.
The shop gives Botkier a great kick-off for 2010, after closing out 2009 with a massive sample sale that attracted lines around the block. The intimate space showcases the brand's bags with the edgy charm characteristic of the neighborhood, and paves the way for more exciting updates for Botkier, including a new logo, packaging and web design, as well as upcoming collaborations with actresses Minnie Driver and Joy Bryant for the charity Oxfam International.
The new Botkier store is located at 246 Mott Street (at Prince).
