Based on all available evidence, Bon Iver is going to be so omnipresent in 2012 that we cannot at this moment rule out the possibility that Justin Vernon and Co. will throw their collective hat into this year's presidential race, as someone has to advocate for the rights of cabin owners.
Now an already big year has become even bigger, as Bon Iver has been announced as the musical guest for the Feb. 4 episode of "Saturday Night Live." They will perform songs from last year's acclaimed self-titled sophomore album, and as long as they avoid that awful song that sounds like Christopher Cross's "Sailing," it should be a good night.
Speaking of the words "album" and "acclaim," Bon Iver's suite of lush, expansive folk-pop was nominated for a lot of Grammy Awards. Perhaps not enough nominations to get Adele jealous, but Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Alternative Album and the always amusing Best New Artist is an impressive haul. The 2012 Grammy Awards take place on Feb. 12 and it would not at all be shocking if Bon Iver ended up playing.
In addition to the TV appearances and Grammys and murdering the 2011 End of the Year List game (Album of Year from Pitchfork and topping the NPR listeners poll? Way to get greedy, Vernon) it was announced earlier this week that Bon Iver will also play Coachella this April, and will probably play a million other festivals this summer, as Bon Iver cannot be stopped.
