Azealia Banks Cashes Out at Bowery Ballroom

After a series of fairly-standard-yet-frustrating delays and scratched release dates, pint-sized Harlem sensation Azealia Banks will finally release her debut EP 1991 on Tuesday through Interscope.

Physical copies will be available on June 12. And yes, the EP is named for the year she was born. We know, we feel old also.

Banks will celebrate the release with a show at the Bowery Ballroom on June 3. Having caught her live recently, I can confirm that she does a mean Prodigy cover, and plenty of young women have no problem (eagerly) singing along with her (extremely) foul-mouthed, female-centric diss anthem "212."

A full-length debut, rumored to be titled Broke With Expensive Taste, is supposedly due later in the year.

Until then, enjoy Banks' latest nimble-tongued monster "Jumanji," which does indeed feature a beat that sounds like a large creature stepping on you, and which is clearly the best Robin Williams-associated song since this
