Austin City Limits Lineup Stacked With NYC Artists

One of the final outdoor events on the American summer concert schedule is the massive Austin City Limits Music Festival that will take place September 16-18 in the Texas town know for its barbeque, Longhorns and budding music scene.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of ACL and to mark the occasion, festival organizers went all out to build an eclectic lineup that should speak to all music lovers. The diverse bookings may have been born out of necessity as the festival’s three-day passes were sold out before the lineup was announced.

Headliners crisscross a number of genres with Kanye West and Coldplay closing Friday night, Stevie Wonder and My Morning Jacket closing Saturday and indie heavyweights Arcade Fire and Fleet Foxes are set to close the festival on Sunday evening.

The lineup also boasts a large number of New York City-based artists who will make the annual pilgrimage to placate the Austinites who have promised to “Keep Austin Weird.”

Brooklyn indie rock will be well represented with TV On the Radio, The Walkmen, The Antlers, Twin Shadows and Phosphorescent all scheduled to appear at the festival. NYC will also send down a few representatives of the hip-hop community, including fast rising star Theophilus London and elder statesman Nas, who will perform with Damian Marley.

The lineup for this year’s ACL skews a bit to the younger demographic of music fans with the inclusion of a number of larger dance and jam-tronica acts like Empire Of The Sun, Cut Copy, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Chromeo.

ACL also taps a number of up-and-coming indie acts that have made some serious waves with recent releases.

Bands like Foster the People, Smith Westerns, Young the Giant, The Head and the Heart, MONA and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. are set to make big first impressions on the large festival audience.

Single Day tickets to Austin City Limits are still available so take a look at the epic lineup in its entirety and decide which date is worth your time and money. It’s your last chance to travel for the summer festival season!
