Ask Curbed: My Condo Building is a Flophouse: “I closed on a new condo…

"I closed on a new condo beg of September only to find out that one person bought 10 units to operate a hotel business even though the offering and bylaws clearly state that these units should be used as residential units. They advertise on Wagoo and Hotels.com. The first violation complaint was filed with 311 on 9/12 and it still has not been inspected. As guests check in at odd hours and are loud, is there anything that I can do? The other residents are getting together next week to discuss putting some money together to file a lawsuit. Is this the only way to stop an illegal business that is clearly violating the zoning?" [Ask Curbed archive]For more stories from Curbed, go to curbed.com.
