Art or Porn — or NYC Subway Map?

We bring you this slightly NSFW NYC subway map because it's the news on everybody's, uh, lips

Listen, before you start getting all "why is this news??!!" please consider that we didn't make this up. In fact, it was created nearly 10 years ago as an art project for a gallery show at Greenpoint's Cosmic Art Enterprises, according to Gothamist. We're bringing it to you because we know you want to be informed about all things New York. And so, citizens, here it is: a map of the MTA subways shaped like the bait and tackle. The twig and berries. The Beatle and the Stones.

Why, you're right: Certain liberties have been taken with shape, especially where the layout of the outer boroughs are concerned. (We always knew Brooklyn and Queens were nuts.) But childlike giggling aside, this map is so rich with meaning! Note where Wall Street is located (we're counting on you to make the connection here, people). And even though this map is from 2000, some things are really prescient, like how Park Slope is smack-dab where the babyseed is made. (If only the artist could have seen into the Slope's stroller-strewn future).
