All Aboard the Brooklyn Ski Bus

New service daytrips you from the Slope to the slopes starting at $89

Had you been strolling down 7th Avenue in Park Slope a little before 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, you might have noticed a bunch of people hanging around the corner at 2nd Street, near the Sweet Melissa Bakery, wearing parkas and holding skis or snowboards.

Four hours later, they were schussing down a trail at Vermont’s Bromley Mountain, courtesy of the just-debuted Brooklyn Ski Bus, which will be trucking eager sportos to nearby slopes – next Saturday is Mount Snow, for instance, and the one after that is Okemo Mountain – on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through to the end of March.

The trip costs $89-$109, depending on the destination, and includes roundtrip shuttling to this very corner in Park Slope (it leaves the mountain around 4PM the same day and gets you back before 9, all going well), an adult all-area lift ticket, and refreshm, ents and snacks aboard. You can either bring your own gear, or rent it on-site for an additional charge – the bus people aren’t involved in that aspect.

The Frugal Traveler’s Matt Gross noted last week that ski shuttles operating from Manhattan were getting increasingly popular, but this is the first service we know of catering directly to Brooklyn bunnies.
