Some people think the boathouse in Prospect Park is one of the coolest buildings in Brooklyn. It was designed by Helmle, Huberty, and Hudswell ("a trio that sounds like a receptionist's telephone greeting in a Marx Brothers movie") and built in 1905. Interestingly, it had a predecessor that was actually designed by Calvert Vaux in 1876, in the "rustic" style dear to him and Frederick Law Olmsted. Who knew?
