…and a taste of the ambitious new play Gatz

And she’s been boo-hooing all over the place. We still want to rock out to Paper Planes live at Terminal 5, because—missteps or no—no-one in music is doing what she’s doing right now. 8PM.

WEST EGG: Cult experimental theatre troupe Elevator Repair Service is just about to open its buzzy Gatz at the Public: A six-hour, word-for-word stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby which already has critics frothing. Tonight, learn how they did it and get a (much shorter) taste of the thing with actor Scott Shepherd and director John Collins at 92Y’s Poetry Center. An Evening of Gatsby is at 8PM. 

PERIOD PIECE: The creative team of HBO’s new prohibition drama Boardwalk Empire—a.k.a. the one thing about the new TV season we’ve been on the edge of our seat for—come to the KumbleTheater at Long Island University to discuss the process behind building the show’s epically huge and detailed 1920s set. Plus, they’ll screen the second episode. And it’s free. Designing an Era: Boardwalk Empire is at 6PM.
