WHY CHOOSE? You love milkshakes. You love beer. Ergo, you will love the Brooklyn Kitchen Labs Beer Milkshakes class taking place tonight. Harry "Hey Chef" Hawk—ex-Schnack owner, creator of the NYC Food Film Festival, honcho of the Burger Shack at Water Taxi Beach—will school you in the dark art of making frothy, sudsy, boozy libations that may look kid-friendly, but are definitely for grown-ups. 6:30PM.
AROMATIC: Malaysian cuisine hasn’t made nearly as much of an impact on the local dining scene as Thai or Vietnamese, and that’s what Malaysian Restaurant Week seeks to change. Kicking off today, the event wants you to feast on the cuisine via $20.10 prix fixe menus or tasting menus available at 30+ restaurants all over NYC (and even a little NJ)-- including Bia Garden, Fatty Crab and places like the Stanton Social, were they’re creating dishes especially for the weeklong event. Satay, galangal and nasi, here we come. Find out more here.
MANHUNT: BAMcinemaFest tapped wondrous French filmmaker Olivier Assayas (“Irma Vep”) to share (and introduce) some of his favorite films. Tonight, a director’s cut of David Fincher’s “Zodiac,” with Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey, Jr—based on Robert Graysmith’s book about the real-life events that seized San Francisco in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when a serial killer known as Zodiac held the city in his grip--gets the Assayas treatment. 7PM.
