3/12: Nerd Speeddating, Charcuterie at Midnight…

…and Las Rubias del Norte’s album release bash at Joe’s Pub

MATCH POINT: Before Galapagos’ regular Nerd Nite event kicks in (in which will be discussed, among other things, Pi and “the seedy underbelly of mathematicians”), lonelyhearts of NYC come together for Nerd Speeddating (in which admitting to your collection of ‘Trek’-themed figurines is actually a good thing). 6:30PM.

EXOTICA: Shimmy to the Latin-flavored fusion sounds of Brooklyn band Las Rubias del Norte, who – after two albums’ worth of 1950s-ish material – debut their new disc “Ziguala” at tonight’s release party: Expect surf guitars, strings, and even a nod to Bollywood. Joe’s Pub, 7:30PM.

COUNTRY TIME: What could be better than house-cured charcuterie and goose fat at midnight? Chef Marc Murphy’s rustic Fête de Campagne is all that and more (including a bacon tarte flambée, sausages, white-wine mussels, cheeses galore and plenty of libations to wash it all down) at Landmarc, 11:45PM.
