20th Anniversary Lollapalooza Lineup Revealed

After a 2010 lineup that featured a host of indie rock headliners like Arcade Fire, Phoenix and The Strokes, the 2011 installment of Lollapalooza has a decidedly more mainstream top line that should create mass appeal for its 20th anniversary celebration.

On August 5 through 7, Lollapalooza will once again take over Chicago’s Grant Park for a weekend-long party that will highlight some of 2011’s brightest shining indie artists on top of mass appeal headliners like Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse, My Morning Jacket and Cee Lo Green.

The larger indie rock artists floating around the top of the lineup include Bright Eyes, Ween, Arctic Monkeys, Beirut, Explosions In The Sky, Lykke Li and Cold War Kids. The list doesn’t stop there as the potatoes on this buffet of rock nearly match the meat. Bands like Portugal, The Man, Local Natives, Two Door Cinema Club, Manchester Orchestra and Delta Spirit add value to the already reasonable cost of $215 for a three-day pass.

The 2011 appears to be catering to the young hoards of dance-crazed folks who dig on confirmed artists like Deadmau5, Ratatat and Crystal Castles. On top of these bands that will play stages throughout the park, the dance party known as Perry’s Tent has expanded and will feature some of the hottest names in the genre like Girl Talk, Pretty Lights and Skrillex.

The list of artists I’m excited to see doesn’t end there, but you should have a look for yourself. There are a lot of gems throughout the laundry list of bands. Check out the full lineup here and lock in your flights now because Lollapalooza is a great way to enjoy one of America’s greatest cities while seeing some of best bands playing today.

I’ll see you late night at George’s Cocktail Lounge! I’ll be the guy playing $20 worth of Tom Petty songs in the jukebox.
