12/8: Indie Artists Play “The Music of John Lennon”

Plus Rosanne Cash and Mike Doughty live and the Met Opera’s tree-lighting ceremony

IMAGINE: On the heels of Sunday’s The Beatles Complete on Ukulele, a less epic but no less ambitious evening featuring the music of John Lennon will bring together artists like Here We Go Magic, Nicole Atkins, The Royal Chains and others to pay homage to the bespectacled Beatle. Glasslands, 8PM.

FIR SURE: The tree on the Grand Tier balcony at the Metropolitan Opera gets its very own lighting ceremony tonight, with ornaments created by the company’s scenic artists, Met performers providing the event’s musical soundtrack, and cookies and hot chocolate for all. 5PM.

CASH IN: Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, local acoustic folkie (and ex-Soul Coughing member) Mike Doughty and Providence’s Americana trio the Low Anthem come to the New York Society for Ethical Culture for a night of music to benefit NYC’s non-commercial public radio station WFUV. 8PM.
