12/20: Ryan Gosling, Stella McCartney…

...and a Winter Solstice party at the Rose Center

LIFE OF RYAN: If you can’t wait until the release of Blue Valentine for your Ryan Gosling fix, head to the Angelika for a screening of All Good Things. The Canadian actor stars here alongside Kirsten Dunst, Frank Langella and SNL’s Kristen Wiig in the story of Robert Durst, the wealthy son of an NYC real estate mogul suspected of killing his wife. It’s a true tale that remains one of history’s great unsolved murders. Academy Award nominee Andrew Jarecki (Capturing the Friedmans) directs. 5:45, 8, 10:15 PM; through Thursday.

STAR POWER: You don’t often hear the words “telescope” and “party” in the same sentence, but astronomers at the Museum of Natural History are here to remind you that third week of December is about more than just Jesus and Santa: it’s also the Winter Solstice. After some fun-with-science info on the solstice at the Hayden Planetarium, spot constellations and stargaze from the Rose Center’s terrace as you sip hot chocolate. Bring a ’scope or some binoculars. Bonus: A preview of tomorrow’s lunar eclipse! The Winter Solstice Telescope Party starts at 6:30PM.

SPLURGE/SAVE: Now that the weekend crowds have died down at the Stella McCartney sale that kicked off last Thursday, you can shop in a slightly more relaxed fashion: Stop by the designers Meatpacking HQ for apparel and accessories up to 40 percent off retail. (Admittedly, a deep V-necked gown dripping in sequins will still run you nearly $1500, but that’s a grand less than the original $2500-ish tag.) 429 West 14th Street, 212-255-1556; stellamccartney.com.
