10/1: Burlesque Fest Kicks Off (Its Undies)

…plus, a “State” reunion (and sketch rarities) and a crash course in food blogging

GRINDHOUSE: Tonight through Sunday, more than 100 performers from exotic lands like Japan and Hoboken will strut their stuff for the 7th Annual New York Burlesque Festival, four nights of glove-peeling, tassel-twirling, bump-and-grind hoopla you’ll kick yourself for missing. Tonight, Williamsburg’s Public Assembly welcomes the Teaser Party: The World Famous B*O*B hosts 20 or so acts, including one of our favorites, Baltimore's Trixie Little and the Evil Hate Monkey (pictured), whom -- p.s. -- we adored long before they were on “America’s Got Talent.”. 8PM.

STATE ASSEMBLY: “The State”’s David Wain, Michael Ian Black, and Michael Showalter have cracked open their late MTV show’s vault to screen a bevy of never-before-seen footage – plus classic skits – at Gowanus’ Bell House, with proceeds benefiting New York Cares. Say it with us: This party will be so much fun, you’ll want to dip your _____ in it. 8PM.

HOT ‘LUNCH’: Attention, people who want to broadcast their gastronomic opinions to the universe: Zach Brooks, founder of the web phenomenon Midtown Lunch and fearless eater extraordinaire, brings his web acumen to the Whole Foods Bowery Culinary Center to give you a Crash Course in Food Blogging. It’s just $25, and there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A with Brooks. 7PM.
