Mark Mulcahy was doing jangly, hazy but open-hearted indie rock back when it was called college rock. He can count Thom Yorke and Michael Stipe amongst his fans, as well as any latchkey kids that remember his theme song from The Adventures of Pete & Pete. In 2009. Yorke, Stipe, Dinosaur Jr. and a number of other alt-rock notables covered Mulcahy's songs for the tribute album Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, which a fan assembled to help Mulcahy's out after a sudden family emergency. He doesn't get out that often anymore, but he's playing this show in support of his new album Dear Mark J Mulcahy, I Love You. If those guys like him, then he's probably doing something right, you know?

If six months went by and F***** Up didn't play New York, how despondent would you be? Personally, we'd be worried that the fundamentals of the universe had become profoundly unhinged, and nothing could ever be trusted again. But fortunately, Canada's hardest working hardcore wizards are touring as hard as ever, and will kick of this summer's free run of shows at the House Of Vans with their sure to be sweaty, intense and quite chatty performance. Speaking of Vans, if you hold any fond memories of going to the Warped Tour but couldn't name a shout-along pop punk band that became popular after you became old enough to drink, then catching a few songs by Title Fight might hit a burgeoning nostalgic sweet spot that you're just old enough to have developed.
