New York City is known as "The City That Never Sleeps" and with that title comes people working around the clock, including the night shift.
So night owls, StreetEasy put together a list of the best neighborhoods for people who work that grave shift.
It incorporates areas with median rent prices below $2,500, commute times, late night train reliability and late night crime rates.
So let’s check out the top 10:
10. Highbridge, Bronx
With easy access to Manhattan and a quick commute – only about 32 minutes to and from Union Square – this neighborhood has a relatively low crime rate and a median rent of $1,625.
9. Ridgewood, Queens
Local
This neighborhood sits off the M train and offers a quick 30-minute commute to Union Square. And to top it off, trains are on time 74 percent of the time. Its pricer rents could set off some people, but it’s close to East Brooklyn nightlife, such as Bushwick and East Williamsburg.
8. Mott Haven, Bronx
This neighborhood on the water and within walking distance to Randall’s Park or Manhattan has a median rent price of about $1,900. It’s a 22-minute commute to Union Square on the 2,4,5 and 6 trains, however it has the lowest on-time rating of any neighborhoods on the list.
7. Woodside, Queens
A bit of a hike to Manhattan, but the R train is a straight shot directly to Union Square. This neighborhood also has access to other trains, the 7 to help get around other parts of Queens and the LIRR.
6. Sunnyside, Queens
This neighborhood has a similar feel to Woodside, and a quicker commute, too. With easy access to the 7 train you can quickly get to Manhattan, however a transfer is necessary but a transfer station at Queensboro Plaza is right on the 7 train’s line.
5. Ditmas Park, Brooklyn
A western Flatbush neighborhood, here you can find the lowest rent price in any Brooklyn. Reliable train service on the Q line that is on time 75 percent of the time and quick 33-minute commute to Midtown. However, this neighborhood does have a slightly higher late-night crime rate than others on this list.
4. Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn
Prospect Lefferts Gardens, or simply PLG, has the lowest on-time train rate of all Brooklyn neighborhoods. It does, however, have a slightly lower crime rate.
3. West Harlem
This Manhattan neighborhood has one of the lowest crime rates after 10 p.m. on this list. With reliable fast train service – under 30 minutes – on the A or D line makes it even more attractive to night owls. It does have one of the highest median rent price coming in a $2,450.
2. Prospect Park South, Brooklyn
Coming in at No. 2 on the list is a neighborhood that many might think fly under the radar. A quick 30-minute commute to Union Square on the Q train and offers low nighttime crime rates.
1. Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn
A somewhat quiet New York City neighborhood, but it’s just a short walk to Park Slope. An average commute is just shy of 30 minutes on the D, N or R trains and to top it off those lines run on time 75 percent of the time. Median rent price comes in at near $2,100 making this neighborhood the best of the 10 on this list.
