Cee Lo Green: “F— You” is “Cute”

Cee Lo Green is reaping the benefits of his recent popularity.

The 35-year-old Gnarls Barkley  singer's latest song “F--- You” (or “Forget You”) is already a smash hit—and it’s been covered by Gwyneth Paltrow and William Shatner. Its accompanying album “The Lady Killer” hit the Billboard charts at Number 9.

So what does he think about how successful "F---You:" has been? “It’s cute as a button!” he recently told Rolling Stone. “It’s very disarming, and it actually sounds nothing like that title—it’s got a very tongue-in-cheek quality. It’s “F--- You”—but with a smile on your face.”

But what he’s not affectionate about these days are tattoos, which he does have. “I kind of resent them all. I was commemorating things that were important to me, like my mama and Goodie Mob [Green’s early group]. It never dawned on me how permanent it would be. Now I look at ‘em like, ‘Well, that could be better.’"

Green’s voice also appears on the Slim Thug track “Marijuana” but the singer told Rolling Stone that he doesn’t smoke. “Around the time of Goodie Mob’s first album, I had a weed-induced anxiety attack, and I never got comfortable with it again. The funny thing is, when that song came out, I was like ‘I’ve got a song with Slim Thug?’ I have not recollection of singing that part, and I don’t even understand what I’m saying.”

The singer continues to be riding on a huge wave thanks to his recent four Grammy nominations, including for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
