Comic-Con: Day 1 Must-See Events

"Twilight" and "50 Shades of Grey" kick off four days of fun and fan-atacism

Comic-Con International, running Thursday-Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center, offers so many panels, exhibitions and sneak peeks that many attendees may wish their superhero costumes come equipped with comfortable shoes.

Here's some of the biggest events on Thursday, July 12:

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2"

Twihards have been lining up for days outside the Convention Center for this. Four years after the first film arrived at Comic-Con with a screaming roar, fans of the series will get to experience exclusive footage of the final installment that arrives in theaters Nov. 16. Those who squeeze into the venue will also be treated to a cast and filmmaker panel discussion of the finale. Robert Pattinson better get those earplugs ready!

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Celebration

The grandaddy of fighting games marks a quarter century with celebrations including an ultimate Street Fighter tournament series, collector's set and more. A few lucky fans will be chosen to compete in a Street Fighter trivia contest (hosted by Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoaki Ayano) to win amazing prizes.

E.L. James Book Signing

The "50 Shades of Grey" author is expected to draw such a crowd that organizers are considering offering a drawing for line tickets. With "Twilight" bowing out this year, the hotly-anticipated movie adaption of James' erotic best-seller looks set to take up the mantle of fan-favorite at future Comic-Cons.

Inside the Batmobile

With "The Dark Knight Rises" hitting theater in little under a week, fans will flock to see this 22-minute sneak peek at the upcoming documentary "The Batmobile." A panel discussion will follow but perhaps the biggest draw over the convention's four days will be all six versions of the famed vehicle (from Adam West's 1955 TV model to the Tumbler from the current Dark Knight trilogy), which will be on display in the Batcave area between Hall H and the Bayfront Hilton.

"Grimm" at Gaslamp Square

"Grimm" takes over Gaslamp Square with a specially constructed forest (watch out for Wesens!) and Aunt Marie's vintage Airstream trailer. Those who make it out of the forest will receive a "Grimm"/"Revolution" bag.
