Fashion Week Recap: Day 6

Disparate sources provide inspiration for collections showing on Day 6 of New York's style fest.

What do Gustav Klimt, Marrakech, and Santa Cruz (circa 1983) have in common? All inspired collections showing on Day 6 of New York Fashion Week, from Klimt-inspired brocades at Tory Burch to Rodarte's luxe take on '80s DIY glam.

The Mulleavy sisters mined their 1980's Santa Cruz childhoods for inspiration for fall 2013, which yielded knockouts like fringed and bedazzled sweaters (made to look deliberately "DIY") and silky tie-dye evening gowns. [Style.com]

Retail powerhouse, J.Crew, showed a collection of luxe preppy staples with a Moroccan twist. After a trip to Marrakech, designer Tom Mora experimented with tile printed coats, sequinned arabesques and thick knits inspired by Moroccoan rugs. [Style.com]

Marie Claire accessories editor, Kyle Anderson, was the first to sport Chanel's outrageous "hoola hoop bag" to Fashion Week. [Fashionista]
