Chicago's most famous alligator got a message of support from the city celebrity he was named after.

Chance the Rapper, who appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Tuesday, shared some words of wisdom to the beloved reptile Chance the Snapper.

"Keep your head up," Chance said on the show. "They got you locked down. They can have your body but they can't have your mind."

The alligator, which captured nationwide stardom on social media and had fans flocking to the lagoon in gator-themed attire and costumes, was caught early Tuesday after a week of eluding capture, but less than two days after the city brought in Frank Robb, a gator expert from Florida.

As for what's next for the alligator, city officials say the animal's next home is still being discussed.

"Rest assured it will be going to either a zoo or a sanctuary," Kelley Gandurski, executive director of Chicago Animal Care and Control, told reporters Tuesday after the animal's capture. "No harm will come to this gator. It's going to go to a very safe place. We're working out those details still."
