Nichelle Nichols, “Star Trek's” Uhura, ”Resting Comfortably” After Suffering Mild Stroke

Nichelle Nichols is recovering after suffering a stroke yesterday.

The 82-year-old actress, who is best known for playing Lieutenant Uhura on "Star Trek," was transferred from her home to the hospital Wednesday night following the health scare, which was characterized as a "mild stroke," E! News has confirmed.

"Nichelle Nichols is resting comfortably and under going tests," her rep tells E! News. "We do not have a prognosis yet but everyone's prayers and well wishes are appreciated."

Nichols' health scare comes less than three months after her beloved "Star Trek" co-star Leonard Nimoy died back in February at the age of 83.

His wife Susan Bay Nimoy confirmed his passing citing the cause of death as end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Nimoy and Nichols' longtime friend and co-star William Shatner said of Nimoy's death, "I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love."
