‘The Munsters' Auto-Tune Halloween

This Halloween, party like the Munsters family.

To honor everyone's favorite festival of monsters, vampires, werewolves and witches, COZI TV is unleashing a "Munsters" marathon on October 31. And along with classic episodes from the beloved sitcom, the marathon will debut "Auto-Tune The Munsters," the first fully auto-tuned rock opera for TV featuring five original songs.

The iconic "Munsters" episode, "A Man for Marilyn," has been reconstructed around original composed songs using dialogue from the show, including "What's Wrong With Me" – a pop ballad lament with a refrain by Marilyn featuring help from her Uncle Herman, Aunt Lily and Grandpa Munster.

The special was conceived by COZI TV creative director Alan Goodman who, along with composers Paul Rolnick and Jamie Lawrence, crafted the original songs. Original animation and effects were created by Dream Machine Creative. "No one’s ever done this before on TV, so we can’t wait for fans to see it and sing along," said Meredith McGinn, senior vice president of COZI TV.

"The Munsters" marathon airs from noon (11c) to midnight on Saturday with the special "Auto-Tune The Munsters" debuting at 8 p.m., with an encore presentation at 11 p.m.

Airing from on CBS from 1964 to 1966, "The Munsters" followed the lives of the not-so-normal family who lived in a crumbling Victorian mansion at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. The Munsters considered themselves a typical working-class family despite the fact that every member of the clan was an archetype of classic Hollywood horror movie characters: patriarch Herman Munster (Fred Gwynne) is pieced together like Frankenstein's monster, matriarch Lily (Yvonne De Carlo) is a vampire, their only son Eddie (Butch Patrick) is a werewolf, and Lily's dad Grandpa (Al Lewis) is a 378-year-old vampire who says he's been married 167 times.

Cousin Marilyn (Beverley Owen/Pat Priest) is the daughter of Lily's sister who still lives in Transylvania. While Marilyn was the only character who dressed and acted "normal" in the sitcom, her adoring family of monsters could never help but wonder how she turned out so "plain."

Fans can tune in and join in the Halloween fun on Twitter using the hashtags #Munsters and #AutoTuneTheMunsters. "The Munsters" marathon begins at 12 p.m./11c on COZI TV. Check local listings for further information or go to COZITV.com.
