Jimmy Fallon Reads From His New Children's Book, “Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada”

Jimmy Fallon loves being a daddy.

It was actually daughters Frances, 6 months, and Winnie, who turns 2 next month, who inspired the "Tonight Show" host to write a children's book called, "Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada."

On Tuesday, Fallon read an excerpt of his adorable book to Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today." "This is the dada sheep here, and this is the baby sheep," he explained, pointing to the illustrations. "He's saying, 'Say dada,' and the baby sheep says, 'Baa!'"

"And we go animal to animal here?" asked Lauer.

"You're catching on!" Fallon said.

Lauer helped provide sound effects for a baby bee, who said "Bzzz" although his papa bee urged him to, "Say dada!"

Not surprisingly, Fallon's quest to be the preferred parent had something to do with writing the book. "There's no plot. There's barely a plot," he admitted. "There's only a selfish thing that hopefully your baby's first word will be dada."

Fortunately, Fallon's wife Nancy Juvonen is OK with her hubby's agenda. "She's kind of throwing me a bone here," he said. "She's almost helping the 6-month-old [say dada]..."

Part of the reason for this? "Our first baby's first word was mama," Fallon revealed.

Even if baby No. 2's first word ends up being mama, too, Fallon will still be grateful to be a parent.

He and Juvonen struggled with fertility issues for years. "It was a tough time and...it's not easy," he recalled to NPR's David Greene. "Luckily, [we] got involved with a surrogate and so she had our babies...She's a blessing; it was the best thing that ever happened to us."

"I definitely really appreciate what I have," he added. "I mean I just love them so much and it's insane."

Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada is on sale now.
