David Oyelowo and Daniel Craig Will Star in Off-Broadway's ‘Othello'

Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo (“Selma”) and current James Bond star Daniel Craig are leaping from the big screen to the stage, starring in a new production of Shakespeare’s “Othello” for the New York Theater Workshop.

The play, which is set to open in the fall of 2016, will be directed by Tony winner Sam Gold (“Fun Home”). Oyelowo will play the title role, with Craig starring as villain Iago.

Oyelowo was last seen on the New York stage in a 2007 revival of “Prometheus Bound” for the Aquila Theater Company. Craig has graced the Great White Way twice in his career: 2013’s “Betrayal” and 2009’s “A Steady Rain.”

Official dates and additional casting have not been announced, but it’s safe to say that tickets for the New York Theater Workshop’s 199-seat theater will be a tough one to get.

Craig’s next Bond film, “Spectre,” opens in theaters this November.
