Sandra Bullock Makes a Surprise Outing To Receive Award

Sandra Bullock made an unexpected appearance – her first public outing since the Academy Awards and her breakup with husband Jesse James — at Spike TV’s "Guys Choice" awards, The Associated Press reported.

The star, 45, who recently won an Oscar for “The Blind Side,” was at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City last night to accept the “Troops Choice Award” for Entertainer of the Year from presenter Robert Downey, Jr. Military members voted on the honor.

"Let's be honest here, just for a moment,” Bullock told the audience, as reported by People magazine. “We're all going to be honest, right? "Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. [improvised explosive device] explosion that became my personal life?!"

Bullock, who received a standing ovation, added: "No, it's okay. Because I would do it over again if it was to entertain our troops, and our extraordinary troops deserve something much more than some actress in a tight dress talking herself."

U.S. Army 1st Sergeant Nicholas McClain, who shared the stage with the star, told People:  "It was a great honor. She’s a beautiful woman and a great supporter of the military."

The actress slated appear at the MTV Movie Awards where she will receive the Generation Award.

Spike TV’s “Guys Choice” awards program will air June 20.
